Helly Hansen Warsash Spring Series - Race 4
Saturday started off light and we found ourselves quickly hoisting the A3 for a fly by helicopter shoot with our Media man Mike Jones. Hereafter the day was spent concentrating on boat speed and communication, with 16-17knots filling in, giving the team a good breeze to play with. A change in crew roles saw everyone working hard to maintain the progress achieved so far but unfortunately the day was cut short with a breakage to our control lines. The boys did a great job to patch the boat up with a temporary fixing for racing the next morning.
With the boat in a fragile state it was not our lucky day when we were met with a big forecast and a lot of rain. The team huddled in the cockpit on the hour long motor to the race course (see facebook photo!). Once the race was underway an average of 26 knots had engulfed the Solent, and the team found themselves racing in the biggest wind since the start of the campaign. All was going well until a large gust threw us and the temporary repair to the control lines broke. The decision was made to head to shore before the small issues turned into something more serious. Well done to everyone who completed the race! Work is underway this week to get LMR back to her normal self before the Spring Championships this weekend.
