Helly Hansen Warsash Spring Championships - Weekend 1
The first races of the Spring Championship weekend got underway promptly with short windward leeward courses making it crucial to achieve a clean lane off the line and a good first beat to avoid traffic around the top mark. The wind ranged from 10-15 knots throughout the day and the team posted a consistent set of results, with a 3rd, 5th, 3rd and 4th. The short legs and tight racing between the classes made for a very exciting and enjoyable day on the water.
Sunday proved to be a challenging start to racing, with fluky conditions making the team work hard to overcome issues in the first race. By the second race the team had found the pace and a good lane and clean air off the line lead to a quick upwind leg. This, paired with the smooth execution of manoeuvres secured LMR her first win of the series, finishing a comfortable 5 minutes ahead of the fleet.
A big thanks goes out to the committee at Warsash Sailing Club for putting on another slick and well organised weekend of racing. It was impressive to get all 6 races in as well as see so many boats on the water competing. Congratulations to the whole team who have been working extremely hard to achieve our goals. We are currently lying 4th in our class so lets see what we can do this coming weekend.
