R.O.R.C North Sea Race 2016 - The First Offshore

Lady Mariposa finished her first offshore race last night, which was a race of two halves...

The team lead the fleet out of Harwich and to the first mark, keeping ahead of the Volvo 70 for a few hours. The middle part of the race saw good boat speed, helping LMR to pull away from the fleet up to Smith Knolls Buoy off the North Norwich coast.

Unfortunately it was not long before the breeze shut off, enabling the rest of the fleet to catch up whilst the team were stuck in a big hole of nothing (except for a friendly flock of pigeons who made themselves at home!). Eventually the wind filled in (a total of 3 knots of breeze) and the team managed to get the boat across the finish line in Holland.

A huge well done to the team onboard who put in a sterling effort from start to finish, keeping the focus right until the end.

Also thank you RORC Rating Office for organising the event and JachtClub Scheveningen for the warm welcome last night.
